Author Don Passman describes himself as a serial obsessive – “I tend to go from one obsession to the next,” he says – but magic was one of his first loves, and it’s where he returned for inspiration for his new thriller.
“The way magicians think is different than the way laymen think about problems,” says Passman, an entertainment lawyer by day. “I thought, ‘That’s an interesting mind-set for someone who’s trying to solve a mystery.’”
The book that eventually emerged that passing thought is “The Amazing Harvey,” a breezy romp of a mystery that brings Passman to Book Carnival in Orange on Saturday for a reading, signing and a bit of a magic show, too.
